About the desk
Science reporting that respects the reader and the evidence.
Cytorite is a small, independent desk. We cover research the way we would want it covered if it were our own: carefully, with the uncertainty left in, and without pretending a preprint is a cure.

How we work
Four rules we do not bend
We read the paper
Not the press release, not the thread about the press release. If we cannot get the paper, we say so in the piece.
Uncertainty stays in
Sample size, effect size, who funded it, what it does not show. The caveats are the story as often as the finding is.
Plain words, full rigour
Jargon gets translated, never smuggled past you. Simplifying the language should not mean simplifying the claim.
Corrections in public
When we get something wrong we fix it on the page and say what changed. Quietly editing the record is not a correction.
Newsletter
Once a week. Nothing else.
A short email with what we published and what we read elsewhere. No tracking pixels, no sponsored slots, no drip sequence.
Get in touch
Tips, corrections, questions
Working on something we should know about? Spotted an error? Want to argue with a conclusion? All of it is welcome.
Response time
We read everything and usually reply within two working days.
